Jane Doe at Work: How To End Sexual Harassment in Workplace

Women and men in the workplace must speak up and stand for Jane Doe in any and every reported account of sexual harassment, discrimination or sexual violence at work or work-related functions.

The brutal account enumerated in a lawsuit brought recently by Jane Doe, a Cornell University student who names seven male fraternity brothers in her accounts of sexual assault in 2024, underscores the urgency for systems in place to end sexual harassment and assault everywhere, including the workplace.

We Lost The Grant. We're Not Losing This Fight.

Shortly after I published a post saying there is always a way to make something important happen, life made me prove it.

On October 22, I walked into the WIN Summit at New York’s Glasshouse with a knot in my stomach. The room was celebrating 18 winners of a $60 million competition from Melinda French Gates’s Pivotal Ventures and Aspen Digital. The challenge sought proposals for projects with the overall goal to create workplaces that work for women. The funders solicited projects that propose solutions in three categories: narrative, culture and practice, and AI.

I came to cheer the winners and appreciate the effort the funders put into the endeavor. I also came bearing the disappointment of someone who had not won.

Take The Lead’s proposal in the AI category made the first cuts. We had poured ourselves into it. Standing in that energetic room, I felt the loss all the way down.

Wise Women: Humanity's Untold Origins
A FairShot Film Series screening with Gender Fair, Wise Women and Take The Lead

Menopause is still treated as a problem to manage, not a source of leadership. This film disagrees. Narrated and executive produced by Margaret Cho, Wise Women uses real science to show how post-menopausal women helped shape civilization, and why we should be listening to them now.

After the screening, Gloria Feldt moderates a panel on leadership, menopause advocacy and better workplaces. Panelists include RI State Senator Lori Urso, whose bill made Rhode Island the first state to require menopause accommodations at work. A networking reception follows.

📅 Wednesday, October 28 | Doors 5:30 PM, screening 6:00 PM📍 Angelika Film Center, 18 W Houston St, NYC
