Gay, Female & Iconic: Author Fran Liebowitz Talks Back On Today's Pushbacks

“It is so much harder to be a girl now than when I was growing up,” says Fran Liebowitz, 75, author, actress and outspoken public critic on the subjects of gender, bias, identity, work, democracy, popular culture and the future.

Today’s culture is perilous, she says, speaking in a packed Northwestern University’s Cahn Auditorium in Evanston outside of Chicago. “It is not perfect, it is not even good. It’s all misogyny.  A lot is about being anti-woke.”

Global Contraception Crisis Affects Us All

Vogue Business in partnership with Made Possible and FP2030 hosted a London event on the depths of the contraception crisis and solutions for global maternal health, access to contraception and wellness "Iin 2024 alone, contraception prevented 144,000 maternal deaths, 143 million unintended pregnancies and 29 million unsafe abortion across the world. Yet, recent UN figures indicate there are 259 million women globally who say they want to use modern contraception but are unable to access it, due to providers refusing to disperse it, rigid social norms and pressures, or a lack of local supply." Funding is a solution. "Every $1 invested in women’s health yields $8 in social and economic growth — and meeting the demand for global family planning could yield $660 billion in economic benefits by 2050."
Take The Lead prepares, develops, inspires, and propels all women of all diversities and intersectionalities to take their fair and equal share of leadership positions across all sectors by 2025.
