Don’t Get Mad: Keys To Calm Negotiating With Tough Partners For Your Win

A newly pervasive culture of shouting matches at school board meetings, city council meetings, citizen meetings with elected officials, youth sports, union meetings, public protests, board meetings, diplomacy meetings and even televised negotiations from the Oval Office have all normalized yelling, name-calling and bullying.

But this behavior is neither normal nor productive. So how do you change the momentum of the moment when you are in a work environment and someone shouts, yells, screams or causes chaos to erupt?

The Power To Accelerate Action:
Breaking Barriers in Cannabis

By Narmin Jannous

I’ve never been someone capable of complacency - whether that’s because I live in chronic pain and refuse to tolerate one iota more of discomfort is yet to be determined. What I do know is that complacency has no place in my life, career, or the cannabis industry.

When I first entered this space, I saw far too much stagnation. Licensing regulations that didn’t make sense, social equity plans that rang hollow, and marketing strategies that catered to one very particular type of man.

Lilly and Judy ✴️ Historic Calls to Action

What an amazing International Women’s Day 2025 I was privileged to experience! It was equal measure inspiring celebrations of women’s progress and passionate calls to action to change the state of the world for women, where rights won are being lost and many protections of equal treatment are being erased a warp speed.
The two events I attended both received well deserved standing ovations.
That’s because of the way each exemplified progress is possible through struggle and movement building. And each illustrated a poignant reminder that no step forward is forever unless there is constant activism.

Write To Change The World
The OpEd Project’s “Write To Change The World” workshop is a discovery-based interrogation of authority and knowledge. It walks participants through a method for changing hearts and minds, addressing opposition and building consensus, and thinking bigger. It connects them to a network of journalist mentors, and results in them publishing op-eds (if they wish). It also provides valuable tools for anyone seeking to build a case for something new (new book, new research, new job, new business, new policy, etc). It is open to the public, 100% virtual, and typically takes place over two half-days. All those who complete the workshop will receive one month of follow-up support.
